Many mysteries surround her. More mountains, lakes and streams bear her name
than any other North American woman. Across the Nation statues have
been erected in honor of her memory.
Boise Filmmaker Lori Joyce of Idanha Films teamed up with the creative
production team of Idaho Public Television to produce her latest documentary
on a woman she has been fascinated with since fourth grade.
This one hour program explores the life of Sacagawea from the rich
oral history of the Augadika Shoshoni, Mandan Hidatsa and the Nez
Perce Native American tribes, as well as the historical account taken
from the journals of the Corps of Discovery.
Joyce with director/videographer Alan Austin and co-producer John
Crancer traveled five states, Idaho, Montana, N. Dakota, Wyoming and
Oregon to gather the footage for the film. Native American singer-songwriter
Rita Coolidge, winner of two Grammy Awards, narrates the unfolding
story shot on location.
